Wireless Access Wireless access to the internet with a 802.11 b/g network is available throughout the building and outside the SLC in the North Terrace and South Plaza and other surrounding areas. Requirements: You will need your own laptop and wireless connection card. In the beginning, use of the wireless network will be much like that you may have experienced at Herty Field or the Main Library. If you do not have a wireless card but have a regular wired one, many areas of the SLC will have ports in the walls which you can simply plug into and use the network. See the UGA Recommendations for Student Computers for more information about choosing a laptop computer for purchase. If you do not have a wireless connection card on your laptop, there are over 2000 computer drops you can use to access the internet. Many are located within the 96 group study rooms and in the research and study areas. Campus-wide Wireless: Plans to provide wireless access over the rest of UGA's campus are already underway. Learn more about the project and discover the areas on campus that are already "live" at http://www.eits.uga.edu/paws/gettingstarted.html. In the very near future the North campus quad and the South campus Greenway will be covered by wireless networks. URL=http://www.slc.uga.edu/technology/wireless.html |
